An Open Letter for the President of the Philippines
His Excellency, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The President of the Philippines
Malacañáng Palace, Manila, Philippines
Dear Mr. President,
Good day sir, I am Daniella Cerna grade 10 student from Ilocos Sur National High School. First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your victory last may 9 election. We, the people of the Philippines hope that you will run this country peacefully and secured. We expect that this country would be in better hands. We also have a high expectations that those promises you made when you were running for presidency would come true.
As I am witnessing you as our president, I couldn't say that I am amazed or somehow I can't say that you're doing your job well. I'd be lying right now if I say that I am not disappointed on you. I know that being a president is such a hard job but please do your responsibilities well and properly. I couldn't bear to see those Filipinos who are struggling with their lives right now. Seeing how our economy falls apart while you're enjoying your luxury life. Seeing how the inflation go up while there's someone out there who cannot buy something to eat because they couldn't afford it. People were shouting and asking for help, but it seems that you couldn't even hear a word. I know that you're doing your best as a leader, but are those efforts that you're giving to us is enough? Is it enough for all of us? No. We need more from you. Think about the 31 million Filipinos who supported you and voted for you, they trusted you that you will be serving them right because you promised them something, a promises they think that would change their lives. Maybe their life changed, but not as what they expected.
You will be our president for 6 years, and I hope that these problems that our country is facing right now will be solved already. People are still expecting, we still hope that something would change while you're the President. Yet, I somehow see some improvements and changes for this country. Prove us that you deserve the 31 million votes, prove us that you deserve the position that you have right now. It's not too late, but I think it's the time. I know that you can do more better and I also know that you can give us more satisfaction in the future.
Yours truly,
Daniella Cerna
